HOT STAMPING

Hot Stamping is available on the following eight 39mm molds.
A-CREST, CIRCLE SQUARE, ELEPHANT & CROWN, HORSEHEAD, JOCKEY, SCROLL, B-DIAMOND, DIECARD.
It is not available on molds not listed above including SMALL CROWN & LARGE CROWN.

PLEASE SEE THE ONLINE STORE WHERE YOU CAN PURCHASE SAMPLES OF THE CHIPS ILLUSTRATED.

Note that hot-stamping is best suited for simple designs or characters and custom dies can only be created from line-art.

[Please bear in mind it is difficult to scan or photograph metallic hotstamps because of their reflective nature - I will try and improve on some of the images over time.  They are more to illustrate the choices available than the quality of print.]

PRICES

In addition to any artwork costs (same as for inlaid chips) where the customer does not have their own art files, there are 4 elements to hot-stamp pricing:

1.  The cost of the 'Plain' chips as shown in the upper table on our pricing page.

2.  Please note that due to world shortages of brass and magnesium the price has doubled in early 2023 resulting in a 50% - 100% increase in die costs depending on whether they are single or multiple dies. The cost of any custom dies you may wish to have made.  These cost an average of $250 each depending on complexity for single dies to $200 each for sets of 3 or more.  You will initially be billed for $200 or $250 deposit per die which will be adjusted if necessary when the actual cost is known.  Any custom dies remain the property of the customer and will be stored by us for that customer's future use, or returned to the customer for the cost of shipping if required.  There is no custom charge for using any of our stock dies described below.

3. Setup cost for the dies.  The first die installation will be charged at $33.  Each subsequent die change through an order will be charged at $15.

4.  Stamping cost.  The cost per chip will be 19c regardless of whether chips are same both sides or different.

FOILS

There are 6 colors of metallic foil available - Gold, Silver, Black, Red, Blue & Green.  Gold is the most widely used and tends to give the best results.  All colors can be used on any color chips but obviously some combinations have much better contrast than others.

STOCK DIES

We have 4 sets of stock lettering/numeral dies available, plus a set of three 7/8inch fractional dies to complement inlaid custom sets.

Our NEW character set includes A-Z, 0-9, four currency symbols and a few other characters.  Generally, up to 3 characters will fit on a chip.  We have 3 of each letter and numeral available and 2 each of the rest.

Our OLD character set includes A-Z only.  We have between 1 and 3 of each letter available only - please check for availability.  It is possible to fit up to 4 characters on a chip but 3 works much better.

Our NUMERAL set includes 0-9 only.  We have 2 each of 1 to 9 and 4 zero's.  Up to 4 characters will fit on a chip (or 5 for just '10000').

Our DENOMINATION set includes 13 values from 5c to $1000.

FRACTIONAL STOCK DIES

CUSTOM DIES

Custom dies can be made to order as described above.

Please note that the maximum stampable area varies between 3/4 inch and 7/8 inch depending on the design and the mold (diameter of the ring and faint curvature of chip face are both a factor).  The Amold & Jockey can be stamped at 7/8 inch, the other 6 molds at 3/4 inch.

PIE SPOT PATTERNS

Note that the nature of construction of pie chips means that 50% will come with the 'dovetails' in one color and the other 50% will be reversed.  See this pic for example.  This affects both hotstamped and plain (non-inlaid) chips.
